Why MHTECH exists
African SMEs make up the large majority of businesses on the continent and most of its employment. They are served by software priced for companies a hundred times their size, and by lenders who reject most of them.
We think that gap is closed by building, not by advocating. So we build.
Why Francophone Africa first
Most capital, most studios and most product attention go to four English-speaking markets. That leaves Francophone Africa with the same problems and a fraction of the competition.
We work natively in French and English, which is a structural advantage rather than a convenience. Our first markets are Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Anglophone expansion follows, then pan-African scale.
Part of Mountain Hub
MHTECH is the venture studio of Mountain Hub, which has spent six years building the market we now build into. Mountain Hub has trained 10,000 young people, supported 500 companies and operates innovation communities in all ten regions of Cameroon.
For MHTECH that means a founder and engineering pipeline we did not have to buy, and relationships with corporates, government and development partners that take most studios years to establish.
